First United Methodist Church is excited about what the future holds for us as a church. After much prayer and reflection, our church community is taking the bold step of moving locations. Though it is difficult to leave a space that has been used for worship for over 150 years, we believe that God has called us to build a new facility.
We are doing this because we believe God is asking us to make sacrifices so we can better serve the community we are in. Over the next few years, we will be growing roots, branching out, and bearing the fruit that comes with taking bold steps in a life with God. As we journey together, we hope you will consider joining us and being a part of our church as well.
Two steps closer!
We now have a “sign” of things to come. For those of you who have not traveled to or past the Apple Pie Ridge (APR) property, our Eagle Scout candidate, Elijah Gordon, recently completed our new sign!
We are also happy to report that Church Council recently approved a request from the Building Committee to engage Horizons Stewardship to conduct a study of the feasibility of a capital campaign to partially fund construction of the new multi-purpose building. Horizons will evaluate the potential for our congregation to pledge funds over a several year period. Those pledges, in conjunction with funds we have in the bank from the sale of the church, would then be used to apply for a short-term construction loan and long-term financing for this first phase. The Building Committee met with Design Concepts on March 29 to start the process of detailed design of the new facility. The process is expected to take several months, but we’re very excited to begin! We ask that you keep the Building Committee and design team in your prayers so that we may have God’s guidance in all that we plan.
Stay tuned!
